PGA West Region Championship
Last week Cumberwell hosted its second professional event of the year, this time, the annual West Region Players' Championships supported by Lansdown Mazda.
Home players included Ali James, Ben Lloyd, Alex Blewett and Alex Pike and all played well on home soil. It was the west region PGA's best field with a few notable names playing. Ryder Cup Star Phillip Price and European tour players Stephen Dodd, Gary Emerson, Liam Bond & Dave Dixon were also among the strong starting line up.
An event Ali has previously won, he gave himself another chance after a superb 66 opening round, accompanying Price who carded a 67. Ali James tied the lead with West Region Specialist Mike Watson and the two leaders were to accompany Price in the final round.
However it was Richard Dinsdale from the Parc Golf Academy who after an opening 67 returned a final round 4 under par (included 8 birdies and an eagle!) to return on 8 under par, one shot clear of Phillip Price and the rest of the field. Ali James finished in a Tie for 6th position with a final round 71.
The ProShop team returned some good scores with Ben Lloyd finishing in 22nd with rounds of 71 &70, Alex Blewett in 34th with 73 & 71 and Alex Pike in 41st with 72 & 73.
Well done guys.

Lithium battery – the lighter option!
An increasing number of golfers are opting for a Lithium battery to power their electric trolley because, with a 5-year limited warranty, it provides a reliable and more cost-effective option than the lead-acid alternative.
An integrated Battery Management System protects the Lithium and helps to provide a five-times-longer lifespan than lead-acid equivalents, while both 18 and 36 hole Lithium capacities can be recharged from empty in less than five hours.
The lightweight and compact Lithium batteries are also designed to remain on the trolley when folded down, to make it easier when travelling to and from the course.
- Market-leading 5-year limited warranty
- 75% lighter (compared to lead-acid equivalent)
- Five-times longer lifespan (compared to lead-acid equivalent)
- Compact and stylish design
- Remains in place for easy transportation
- Recharges is less than 5 hours
- Integrated BMS offering optimal performance
- Unrivalled reliability
- 36 hole capacity*
Although the perception of the Lithium Batteries are expensive, over time they will pay for themselves as the average life expectancy is over 5x longer than the equivalent lead acid battery. The batteries are available for any trolley connection including PowaKaddy, Motocaddy or Hill Billy.
Prices are £199 (18 Hole), £249 (36 Hole). Including a new charger!
